Simplified EOS for Microemulsion

While the equation of state (EOS) is extensively used for the characterization of the phase behavior of multi-component fluid mixtures, such use of EOS to characterize the phase behavior of microemulsion systems has so far not been possible, due to the complex micro-structures formed by the oil and brine and the surfactant, when it is employed for the surfactant EOR processes. The objective of this project is to develop a simplified EOS from statistical thermodynamic considerations, accounting for the surfactant lipophile-oil and hydrophile-brine interactions, so that the effects of oil composition (including gas) and other fluid properties on microemulsion phase behavior could be assessed. The model will be implemented in either UTCOMP or GPAS.
